OneMorgan and Brenda Zion win the Citizen Citation for Meritorious Service Award
Citizen Citation for Meritorious Service
In order for police officers to do their job, they must have the support of the community in which they serve. Police officers are unable to be everywhere at once, and so we rely on citizens to assist us in our efforts to maintain the peace, identify criminals and build partnerships.
Over one-hundred and eighty years ago, Sir Robert Peel (the originator of the modern police force) accurately stated:
"The police are the public and the public are the police; the police being only members of the public who are paid to give full time attention to duties which are incumbent on every citizen in the interests of community welfare and existence."
Brenda Zion & One Morgan County – Nominated by Chief Kuretich
One Morgan County's history began in 2005 as a recipient of a grant to support Immigrant and Refugee Families. Since then, the organization has made great strides forward, working diligently to build partnerships throughout the state and in our own community.
The efforts of One Morgan County have strengthened our community allowing newcomers and residents the opportunity to come together and better understand one another.
The enthusiastic approach of the Executive Director, Brenda Zion, promotes an open dialog encouraging information sharing and is a benefit to the Police Department, the City of Fort Morgan and all of Morgan County.
Achieving the success of One Morgan County and the programs they have established doesn't happen overnight. It takes time, energy and commitment to build the strong and effective partnerships they have attained. Mrs. Zion is the driving force behind these efforts. It is evident that it's not outside expectations that compel Mrs. Zion but rather an honest and internal desire to see all people of our community are served.
OneBrenda Zion is nominated for the Fort Morgan Area Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year Award
Her work with OneMorgan County and her efforts in bringing understanding between diverse people have been phenomenal. She may not always get the results she wants but it doesn't stop her from moving forward.
