Bryan Bath Memorial
July 2011 will mark 15 years since the passing of my brother, Bryan Bath. My family and I have decided to partner with OneMorgan County (OMC) to have a bash—a day to celebrate Bryan's life and a day to benefit OMC. The day will include a Bryan Bath Memorial Golf Tournament at Bunker Hill Country Club in Brush as well as a 5k walk/run and 10k individual/team relay run in partnership with the City of Brush Recreational Department. All the activities will culminate in a celebration at Bunker Hill Country Club including a Lions Club lunch. Please see the attached event flyer, entry form and sponsorship form for more information.
I have watched my parents grieve for their only son for the last 15 years—something that is almost too painful to acknowledge. Bryan was exceptionally spirited such as when he put his mind to something he pursued it with the intention of mastering it. It came as no surprise to his family that he became a Navy S.E.A.L. where he demonstrated his love for his country, developed a respect for physical fitness, further explored his enjoyment of outdoor activities and sports, and found the momentum to become a dedicated student of academics and life in general. He was increasingly clear on the kind of person he wanted to be when, unfortunately, he died abruptly and too young.
For those of you who did not know Bryan, please see the attached memorial that my parents and I wrote for Bryan's 10-year high school reunion. Bryan was a proud member of Fort Morgan High School Class of 1987. His 10-year reunion arrived just shy of the 1-year anniversary of his death. This was our submission to their memory booklet. And for your amusement, I have attached a couple of professional pictures of Bryan and I over the years.
I am delighted to see this memorial taking shape. I am sensing this is going to be a cathartic experience for people who have been missing Bryan as well as a fun day for people who like to get out and have a good time running, golfing, visiting, rejoicing, commemorating and enjoying community. I am convinced that Bryan believed in his country and the freedoms that we stand for and that he would have supported my work at OMC. In fact, Bryan was one of my most cherished protectors and I believe he would have wanted nothing less than to connect his memorial to my work with OMC.
Please save the date and pass this message along to your contacts including work colleagues, friends and family members. It is going to be a great day!
Sincerely,
Brenda Zion
